Why Cheerleading

Cheerleading helps teach young athletes about teamwork, communication, leadership, sportsmanship, commitment, and how to handle the pressure of competition. Team sports by nature help to build a child's self-esteem and give them a sense of community.

Earning trust and the responsibility of maintaining trust is an incredibly important lesson that cheer teaches. The trust to go in the air and to trust the person who is in the air to do what they need to do is an important dynamic relatively unique to the sport. Without trust no matter how talented a team will not succeed.

Cheerleading is a contact sport, this builds not only physical strength but mental strength as well. Overcoming fears, self doubt, and working on weakness all contributes to mental resilience.

As a performance based sport cheerleading can spark creativity for young athletes. With quality coaching helping to build foundations this can set athletes on a path to acquire and experiment with new skills, use their imagination, and subsequently collaborate with their teammates to apply these skills in competition. The camaraderie and support derived from fellow team members and working towards a collective goal can significantly contribute to building a child’s self-esteem.
